The News (and other stories)

HELLO!! I am so excited to be typing this post on my brand new Chromebook! Unfortunately, our MacBook that Kevin got back when we were still undergrads (was it really all that long ago? Yes, yes it was) finally bit the dust. It decided that it had charged long enough and took the eternal nap.
Can we have a moment of silence?

Well, we needed to get something to have at home that wasn’t Kevin’s work equipment, but didn’t need anything super fancy (and better yet, not expensive.) So we started looking around and came across the Chromebooks. We compared several and ultimately decided on the Acer C720. It got great reviews, does everything we really need, and the price was right.  Although it has made me quite unproductive since I just want to play around on it. Isn’t it always fun to get new toys?

Let me just tell ya, I have been a crazy woman. There has been so, so much going on, BUT I have really missed you guys.

Where to start? Ah yes, the fun stuff. Well, one of my very best friends from college got married and had a destination wedding....in Hawaii. Uh best wedding ever? Absolutely. Beyond the fact that it was such a fun vacation for me and Kevin, it was fabulous catching up with old friends and making many new ones. We had an absolute ball. And I can tell you when the week was over, this girl had to be dragged onto the plane kicking and screaming. My butt did not want to go back home.

The wedding was at Waimea Valley on the North Shore under this gorgeous, huge, this-cannot-be-real-life banyan tree with peacocks and everything. We all stayed at condos at Turtle Bay, which was about 10 mins from the wedding venue. My favorite 3 things we did on our Oahu getaway (minus wedding stuff and just generally relaxing on pristine beaches): 1. Climbing Diamond Head 2. Snorkeling at Hanauma Bay and 3. Surf lessons at Waikiki Beach. Honorable Mention: Touring Pearl Harbor.

Can you tell that we didn't have any fun at all?

There are so many gorgeous pictures from the wedding, I had such a difficult time deciding which ones I wanted to share. Sara looked stunning and the scenery just made everything even more spectacular.

But I will leave you with this final Hawaii picture: Kevin with our rental car. And in case you didn't know, both Kevin and I are on the taller end of the scale; 6'6" and 5'11" respectively. So the two of us and all of our luggage (this girl right here does NOT travel light) made for quite the clown car extravaganza.

Now on to the nitty gritty business. Kevin and I have made a HUGE push to get some serious projects knocked out. One of the very first projects we took on when we purchased the house was knocking down the wall between the two downstairs bedrooms to create a large master. We have now completed phase 2, which was adding a big walk-in closet that has an area for a vanity/hair-and-makeup station. Also, we took out the closet that used to be in the front bedroom to recess our dresser and give ourselves more usable floor space.

The changes have made a wonderful master with a ton of storage, area for a king size bed, and enough room to feel like you have space. The Cobblestone color on the wall with the white trim, white furniture, and reclaimed headboard gives a cozy, cottage-y feel that I love. I really wanted to create a master that both Kevin and I enjoy being in with enough storage that everything has a place (not just hiding things to give the illusion of organization. Cough cough like I’ve ever done that before....)

We have also finished remodeling both bathrooms (goodbye blue everything, hello sleek, updated awesomeness) which I will share with you in my next post.

The reason we have been busy, busy bees and neglecting all of you in the process? Kevin and I are moving. Yes, after all the love and sweat we have put into our adorable cape cod, Kevin has accepted a job transfer to Wilmington, NC. It is such a bittersweet change. I am going to miss my family, friends, other broke housewife (Kate!), and, of course, my house terribly. BUT I am also excited to be back in a city that has treated me so well in the past. Kevin and I met and fell in love while going to UNCW and Wilmington stole a little piece of my heart. I feel like I grew up there. And now I can’t wait to see what plans God has for the two of us this time around the ole Wilmington block.

We will be permanently down there at the beginning of January. What does that mean for TBW?! Nothing. Kate and I will still be doing our thing just long distance now. You can’t stop these DIY lovin’ souls!

Hope all of you have been enjoying the holiday season!

“Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.” -Luke 2:10-11

Xoxo, Christie
